There are many myths about health and the causes and cures for illnesss.  I've heard that you can predict the sex of your child by the way a necklace hangs, or that cold weather causes colds.

What are your favorite "old wives' tales?"

My mother use to tell me if I wake up and go right for the fridge the cold air will freeze my face.

If I dont wear a hat in the winter I will get sick.

My mom's mom had some WAY OUT THERE 'old wives tales' ......... like if you bathe while you are on your period, you won't stop bleeding!!!  That was always 1 of my favorites b/c, to me, it was SO INCREDIBLY OBSURD!!  But she TOTALLY believed it.

Rubbing the inside of a banana peel on warts to get rid of them. My grandmother swore by it when I was younger and my nephew had them on his hands.

DS  had them on his hands. The doctors had froze them and told him to use the wart away stuff on them so we did. After 6 months they still weren't going away. They actually  got worse 2 or more on each finger.

I bought bananas and rubbed the inside of the peels on his hands every night. Figured what's the harm  he might think I am a little looney but it is not going to hurt him . 1 week later no warts. DD was pretty happy about it too since bananas are her favorite.

All marriages are happy. It's living together afterwards that is difficult.

MY husband's grandma is convinced that if you tickle a baby or small child a lot and make them laugh too much you'll cause them to have a permanent stutter as an adult.  LOL  Mammaw is so cute sometimes!  :)

SHill920 - I have heard of drinking apple cider vinegar for weight loss.  I had a friend who tried everything to lose weight, (except actually exercising and eating healthier), and I remember her telling me that this was supposed to be some wonder trick for dropping a few pounds.
